Heart, we will forget him!

Winner of the 3rd prize in Linköpings Studentsångare Composition Award 2020.

”The phrase ’Heart, we will forget him!’ runs like a mantra through the note systems, this is grief being processed. Emily Dickinson’s poem deals with one of the finest, yet most difficult, of all human endeavors, our relationships.

In this setting, I would like to shift the perspective, showing her words from an angle that is not often found in the repertoire of men’s choirs – that all relationships have a right to exist, to be acknowledged, to thrive and maybe even to break down.” – Linnea Landström

Linnea Landström was born and raised in Luleå, the north of Sweden, where her musical journey began. After studies in jazz music, choral conducting and composition at Sjöviks Folkhögskola (Dalarna), she moved to Örebro to study the Bachelor’s Programme in Composition at The School of Music, Theatre and Art at Örebro University, where she graduated in June 2020. In her education she has had the opportunity to work with ensembles like Stenhammar Quartet and Norrbotten Big Band. The choral music is close to her heart and she is both a chorist and jazz vocalist.
