Corrado Margutti, född i italienska Turin 1974, har till sin mässa för kör a cappella valt dikter av spanjoren Lorca och förenat dem med den ordinarie mässtexten på latin. Lorcas dikt i Agnus Dei heter Mundo.

Corrado Margutti, born in Turin in 1974, graduated from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Turin in Composition, Choral Music and Choral Conducting, Symphonic Band Orchestration and Music Education, where he studied under Gilberto Bosco, Daniele Bertotto and Sergio Pasteris. He completed a Master’s Degree in Composition at the same conservatory. In 2007 and 2008 he won a scholarship from the De Sono Association.
As a composer he has won numerous prizes and acknowledgements in both national and international competitions, including the Florilège Vocal de Tours Competition in 2000 (France), the International Composition Competition in Las Palmas (Spain) in 1999 and 2002, the A.C.P. Competition in Biella (Italy) in 2000, the Harmonization Competition in Aosta (Italy) in 1999, and composition competitions associated with the Aosta Valley Choral Singing Workshop Competition (Italy) every year from 1999 to 2006. In 2001, he participated in the transcription of J.S. Bach’s The Art of Fugue, a project organized and directed by Luciano Berio at the Experimental Opera Company in Spoleto (Italy). Many of his works had been published by Edizioni Carrara (Bergamo, Italy), A Coeur Joie (Lyon), Gobierno de Canarias (Las Palmas), and Astrum (Trzic, Slovenia). Some of his compositions were commissioned by the Philharmonic Orchestra or Turin, Trio Debussy (Turin), Singapore Youth Choir, St. Jacob’s Chamber Choir (Stockholm), Mornington Singers (Dublin), Var’s Musica (St. Raphael, France), Coro Città di Roma, and Torino Vocalensemble (Turin).
Margutti is the Artistic Director of the Coro del Bric (Turin), Coro Saint-Vincent (Aosta) and the Corale Roberto Goitre (Turin). He also performs regularly as a singer in Italy and abroad, having recently recorded Baldassarre Galuppi’s L’amante di tutte at the Teatro Comunale with the Orchestra Filarmonica (Piacenza, Italy), in addition to Madama Butterfly and Rigoletto with Casa Editrice Ricordi. In 2006 he sang the Italian premiere performance of Michael Nymans’ Man and Boy DADA at the Teatro Regio (Turin) and he sang the world premiere of Alberto Cara’s Il Colore di Cenerentola at the Teatro Regio in 2007 (Turin) and at the Teatro Comunale (Bologna) in 2008. He also sang in the Italian premiere of Steve Reich’s Daniel Variations in Milano with Sentieri Selvaggi, and he sung the Italian premiere performance of Michael Gordon’s Van Gogh in 2008.
