Information

Swedish Voices is a compilation of quality music from the Swedish choir tradition at its best: a broad and deep selection of choral music from 1893 to the present day. Three publishing houses, Ejeby Förlag, Gehrmans Musikförlag and Wessmans Musikförlag, present gems from their catalogues. From beloved classics and traditional Swedish folksongs, to moving sacred music and new compositions from some of our most well-known composers. All featured works are in the easy to intermediate level range. Translations of the Swedish lyrics (to English by Ingrid Eng) are included and there are commentaries on all pieces.

”Swedish choral music is highly appreciated, and it is frequently performed around the world. The idea of an anthology was conceived at an international conference where our publishing houses were represented, and we are now proud to present the result of this unique collaboration between the top three choral music publishers in Sweden—a rich selection of Swedish choral music for an international market. In Swedish Voices you will find a wide variety of contemporary Swedish choir productions, and a few beloved classics as well. Each of the three publishers have contributed a selection where roughly half the entries stem from this century, and half are composed by women. The lyrics are in various languages and some folk tunes are sung without words. We’re confident that Swedish Voices can provide inspiration and repertoire for all kinds of concerts. It’s our fond hope that this anthology will also encourage choirs to give singing in Swedish a try.” – The editors Bo Ejeby, Kajsa Ejeby, Karin Ekedahl and Örjan Klintberg.

Foreword by Stephan Lutermann. Each piece in the anthology is available as off-print from the respective publisher! Read more and find links to the off-prints at www.swedishvoices.se.
