Information

Thomas Weelkes (ca. 1576–1623) published, during his lifetime, five collections of madrigals, but also composed a considerable amount of sacred music in his position as organist and choirmaster at Chichester Cathedral. This madrigal is notated for treble voices, but was probably performed by males an octave lower. Here, the piece is transposed to suit a mixed choral ensemble.

Michaeli Early Music Series is edited by Mikael Paulsson, luteplayer and choral conductor, specialized in early music.
