Information
La tricotea is a three-part song included in Cancionero de Palacio (1490–1520) which is attributed to a certain Franco Alonso. Portions of the lyrics are nonsensical: They are a melange of Latin languages, but also include playfully expressive made-up “words”. It is a drinking tune that most probably was sung at taverns and among soldiers. The lyrics and the melody lend themselves well to powerful voices. The parts can also be coloured by way of various instruments, including percussion.
Michaeli Early Music Series is edited by Mikael Paulsson, luteplayer and choral conductor, specialized in early music.
