En stillsam, atmosfärrik komposition för blandad kör och piano till en text ur Matteus evangelium.

”Come Unto Me” was commissioned for Mark Pope and the choir of University Park United Methodist Church, Dallas, Texas, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the church. The church has a relief sculpture by artist Jose Martin above the main entrance doors with the scripture “Come unto me”. This piece was the composer’s first commission in the US. Thanks to Mark Pope for making this happen!” – Tormod Tvete Vik

This anthem begins with a warm and inviting a cappella section for the setting of the text from Matthew, ”Come unto me you who are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” There are lovely vocal lines and some easy dissonance that lingers before resolution. The piano part is minimal at times but provides a flowing transition to the middle section, ”Take my yoke upon you.”
